Stairs cop more wear than any other part of your floor. Every trip up and down grinds grit into the finish, and the edges of treads take the worst of it. We sand stairs the same way we sand floors — proper equipment, dust extraction, and a finish that holds up.
We work on straight runs, winders, spirals, and open-tread designs. Treads and risers get sanded back to bare timber, then coated to match your floors. If the handrail and newel posts are timber, we can strip and refinish those too.
For high-traffic stairs, we recommend a satin or matte finish — it hides wear better than gloss. We can also add non-slip grit to the coating if you need extra grip, especially useful for polished timber or homes with kids.
If your treads are too far gone, we supply and fit new solid timber to match your species. Blackbutt, spotted gum, tallowwood — we source it, machine it, and install it flush.
